I am a 40 something Christian woman, married to a wonderful, romantic man and we have two sweet daughters. We live in an old two story cottage home on 3 little acres just inside our small town city limits. We enjoy having our friends and family into our home and living in a rural community with southern hospitality and charm. I enjoy our little country church and the families that we fellowship with there. Our home used to be a Tea Room that my Mama and I, along with my daughters, owned and operated. (See "Tea Rooms" located in my Labels.) It was so much fun and we hope to have another Tea Room someday. I love romantic things and like my home and clothing to reflect romance. I love bird houses and hearts and I have them around various parts of my home. Basically, I love everything romantic and I am a "Romantic at Heart." :) I hope to meet many new blogging friends here and share recipes and decorating ideas.

Cajun Kettle

Thursday Nights

5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Nearly every thursday night, you can come hear us play and sing at "The Cajun Kettle Restaurant," on the square, in Mountain Grove. It is a fun place for us to play at and we really enjoy it! Some friends of ours wrote an article for the local newspaper about the restaurant. You can read it below.

Traveling Our Back Yard
With Les & Reba Howe

Now that Christmas and New Year’s are but a wonderful memory and all the leftovers, turkey and ham are eaten and tucked away in the freezer; in other words, we are tired of eating leftovers.

Some friends invited us out to a unique restaurant here in Mountain Grove. It is located in the town square. “The Cajun Kettle,” family owned and operated by Melissa and Everett Cantrelle. They moved here from down in the Cajun country. Houma, a town just west of New Orleans, is where Melissa grew up in a large family.

When we asked, “How long have you been cooking?” she laughed and answered, “At a very early age, my father told me I was the best cook in our family of seventeen, although I was one of the younger kids.” Melissa also said that while growing up, the family vegetable garden covered three acres and she is unfamiliar in using prepared food for cooking.

It was a Thursday night. They call it “Senior Buffet Night.” The prices are reasonable and the aroma of spices in this beautiful old building that was constructed in the early 1900’s is wonderful!

Also, on Thursday night, “The Lane Family” entertains the customers with their Bluegrass Gospel music. Katherine and her daughters, Alissa and Shanna, have been singing at “The Cajun Kettle” for about a year. It was a very relaxing evening.

We asked Melissa, “Why did they relocate to Mountain Grove.” She said, “It was a vision from God and the family is very blessed with all the friends we have made here.”

When Melissa isn’t out in the kitchen cooking or greeting customers, she has been known to sing a request. She has a great voice!

“The Cajun Kettle” opened in September of 2005.

Les and I appreciate this smoke-free environment when we go out to eat. We hope when you read this, you will visit “The Cajun Kettle.” Maybe we will see you there.

May God bless everyone who reads this!
